Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey Tutorial

New update I just learned that I got featured on CraftGossip. Thanks for featuring my tutorial.

This is a tutorial on how to make honeycomb, or beeswax soap. Thanks to my friends at Crafster I now understand how to make this very simple yet beautiful soap, so I thought I would share it with you.

We first start by lining the mold with a sheet of bubble wrap. A member of Crafster suggested that if I use the smaller bubble wrap that I will achieve a more honeycomb like appearance. I only had the large bubble wrap so that will do, but next time I will try to find some smaller bubble wrap to see if there is any difference in look.

Next mix the oils, and lye solution at about 95 degrees fahrenheit, this allows for a very long trace time, and that is exactly what I want. I need time to incorporate the oatmeal, milk and honey, and then add the fragrance. The mixture is at trace but still a little runny, I then pour the very smoothly soap mixture into my mold. By taking these steps it allows the soap to form a more smoother, creamer appearance, and take the shape of the bubble wrap.

The next day has finally arrived and I am so excited to show you what the final product.

It was super simple and easy, and as you can see the end result is fantastic. I didn’t add color to the soap, but the I knew the natural color would look gorgeous, and I was right.

Happy Soaping.
